Richard Melville Hall es Moby... y la relación entre el Melville de su apellido y el Moby de su nombre artístico no es casualidad. Su bisabuelo era el hermano de Herman Melville, autor de Moby Dick y por eso él es Moby.
Neoyorquino de Harlem, ya en los 80 daba que hablar con su música electrónica y reivindicativa pero fue en 2006 cuando nos sorprendió con una iniciativa original: publicó un disco recopilatorio, hasta ahí nada nuevo bajo el mar, pero incluyó en él un tema que fue después editado en diferentes versiones en diferentes países, haciéndose Moby acompañar por algún artista reconocido del país en cuestión... En España fue Amaral y en Francia Mylène Farmer, pero eso será más tarde, ahora, disfrutad de la versión original de Slipping away con Moby.
