Recordarás a la banda de los 60 The Animals por temas como "We gotta get out of this place", o "The house of the rising sun" y por la voz de su cantante Eric Burdon. Pues "Mama told me not to come" la compuso el genial Randy Newman para Burdon y junto con The Animals serían los primeros en grabarla e incluirla en el álbum "Eric Is Here" en 1967. Pero ninguna voz como la de Tom Jones para imprimir carácter a este tema cuya versión junto a Stereophonics, grabado en 1999 para el álbum de Tom Jones 'reload', se ha convertido a mi parecer una de las mejores versiones de este tema. Curiosamente la suma de cuatro del grupo con el mito da un resultado de tres "Jones" que en realidad nada tiene que ver entre ellos: Tom Jones, Kelly Jones, Richard Jones y Adam Zidani. Y todos de Gales.
