Gene Kelly canta bajo la lluvia desde que en 1952 se estrenara esta película musical; su escena, paraguas en ristre cantando y bailando bajo la lluvia es, sin duda, una de las clásicas de Hollywood, de esas que aparecen en cualquier retrospectiva del cine y, curiosamente, no estaba incluida en el guión original, se añadió casi en el último momento para dar sentido al título de la película.
Se cuentan otras curiosidades acerca de esta famosa escena, aunque no todas están confirmadas: desde que Gene Kelly la grabó con 39 de fiebre en una sola toma –también está la versión de que fue en 2 o 3 días-, hasta que la lluvia artificial era en realidad agua mezclada con leche para que se viese mejor en pantalla.
