En la contracultura de mediados de los sesenta el uso común de drogas como el cannabis, la mescalina y el LSD se consideraban una herramienta espiritual y creativa, una medio de autotranscendencia. El trabajo creativo bajo efectos de drogas como el LSD dio lugar al género conocido como Rock psicodélico que nace en California y del que participaron grupos como los Beattles, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane… y por supuesto Pink Floid.
Los mismísimos Rolling Stones publicaron en 1967 uno de sus álbumes de culto Their Satanic Majesties Request que incluye temas de corte psicodélico como 2000 light years from home, 2000 man, Citadel o este She's a raimbow. Como curiosidad, en 1999 Apple usaría esta canción en una campaña de publicidad... por lo de los colores. Ya sabes.
