El rock electrónico de Depeche Mode es de escucha obligada si hablamos de new wave, e incluso si no es así.
Publican su primer álbum en 1981 -Speak & Spell- y de ahí en adelante continuan casi a álbum por año en los 80, bajando el ritmo en los 90 y en el siglo XXI pero sin perder nunca ni un ápice de su calidad.
En 2005 estrenan álbum -Playing the Angel- y lanzan como primer single Precious que es además el cuadragésimo de su carrera. Se trata de una balada rítmica, envolvente y de sonido sintético alejada del tono más comercial del álbum del que forma parte. El video, dirigido por Uwe Flade y de importante belleza plástica,se desarrolla en un escenario completamente virtual.
