Pese a la creencia generalizada, este famoso tema de The Beatles, Lucy in de sky with diamonds, compuesto por John Lennon para el Sgt. Lonely Hearst Club Band de 1967, no es un tributo al LSD (Lucy, Sky, Diamonds). Aunque por la época estos chicos de Liverpool experimentaban con las drogas y bajo su influencia compusieron algunos temas y aunque es probable (pero no lo han reconocido) que el caso de este tema no fuera diferente, la verdad es que Julian, el hijo de Lennon, tenía una compañera de clase que se llama Lucy, Lucy O'Donell. Contaban los dos apenas cuatro años y Julian hizo un dibujo de Lucy que le mostró a su padre diciéndole que era, pues eso, Lucy in the sky with diamonds. Este dibujo inspiró a Lennon para componer este tema para el que también sirvió de inspiración Alicia en el país de las maravillas, de Lewis Carroll. Era 1967 y era la época del rock psicodélico, los Beatles no podían faltar.
