Tras la ruptura de los Beattles, en 1970 John Lennon graba John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, su primer disco en solitario y al año siguiente, en 1971, publica su segundo disco que tiene como título el nombre del primer single "Imagine". La canción se convertiría rápidamente en el himno de todo movimiento por la paz. Sin duda es una de las canciones más reconocidas y reproducidas de la historia de la música.
