El año no ha podido empezar mejor para el dúo británico de productores Snakehips, que se ha encontrado con la siempre solvente cantante danesa MØ para completar una pieza, “Don´t Leave”, que les ha vuelto a colocar en el centro de la actualidad musical. Oliver Lee y James Carter, los componentes del dúo de música electrónica y de rhythm and blues Snakehips llevan desde 2012 realizando remezclas para otros artistas, como Banks, The Weeknd o Wild Belle, aunque su salto a la fama se produjo en 2015 con la publicación de su single “All My Friends”. El pasado año lanzaron hasta tres sencillos, “Money On Me”, con la colaboración de Anderson Paak; “Cruel”, para el que contaron con Zayn que llegó a entrar las listas y conseguir un disco de oro en Australia; y “Burn Break Crash”, con la participación de Aanysa. El nuevo año ha empezado con un lanzamiento que directamente se ha colado en las listas de varios países.
El 6 de enero, Snakehips y MØ hicieron público a través de Sony Music su nuevo single, “Don´t Leave”. Una composición en la que han participado varios músicos y productores de esos que tienen la varita mágica para convertir en un hit todo lo que tocan: Joe Janiak (Ellie Goulding, Britney Spears), Cass Lowe, Rachel Keen (artísticamente conocida como RAYE), Oliver Dickinson o Negin Djafari o la propia Karen Marie Ørsted alias MØ. Con su poderoso bajo resonando, esta canción de electro pop pegadizo y muy cadencioso, “Don´t Leave”, es una desesperada llamada de la cantante a su amado para que dé por finalizada su relación, para que continúe a su lado y trate de perdonar y convivir con sus fallos, sus defectos y sus equivocaciones.
La fotógrafa Malia James, que incluso llegó a ser miembro de la adorable banda femenina y californiana Dum Dum Girls, se ha encargado de dirigir el videoclip de esta pieza resultado del encuentro entre Snakehips y MØ. Es una cineasta con mucha experiencia y gran talento, como ya ha demostrado a lo largo de los años y de los clips que ha dirigido para gente como Honne, Anne-Marie, Troye Sivan, Dagny, Catfish And The Bottlemen o Sinead Harnett. En esta ocasión nos presenta un colorido y melancólico retrato de una relación. Con un cuidado exquisito de la fotografía a través de la luz y el ambiente, James ha elegido como escenario Berlín para mostrarnos dos relaciones diferentes. A través del intercambio entre ellas de imágenes, la directora nos muestra el contraste existente. El cruce de historias ante un marco perfectamente elegido y con una iluminación primorosa, permite a la cineasta ofrecer un producto de primera categoría.
