Ballad Of The Mighty I. Noel Gallagher´s High Flying Birds.

El que fuera guitarrista y segunda voz del grupo británico Oasis ya tiene listo un nuevo single con la canción “Ballad Of The Mighty I”, otro adelanto más de su segundo disco en solitario tras la separación de la mítica banda. El Lp de Noel Gallagher´s High Flying Birds estará disponible el próximo dos de marzo, se titulará “Chasing Yesterday”, está totalmente producido y escrito por Noel e incluye la gama más amplia de instrumentos que haya utilizado nunca. Las expectativas son muy altas tras la buena acogida que tuvo su primer trabajo con esta formación, publicado en 2011, y que ha vendido más de 770.000 copias hasta el momento.

Por lo que ha trascendido de las grabaciones, éstas han dado como resultado un disco rico, expansivo y diverso en el que se muestran un buen número de influencias que van desde el rock de la Costa Oeste al rock and roll clásico e incluso algo de space jazz. No obstante hay coherencia y el característico sonido de sus guitarras, su voz y su buen gusto musical. El primer single que se publicó fue “In The Heat Of The Moment”, un tema inspirado por un documental en el que un astronauta dijo que viajar al espacio por primera vez era como tocar la cara de Dios. Noel Gallagher, como siempre, sigue encontrando la inspiración en cualquier lugar, en cualquier cosa.

El nuevo álbum, “Chasing Yesterday”, dura poco más de cuarenta y un minutos y medio y contiene diez canciones. La encargada de cerrar este disco es precisamente el sencillo “Ballad Of The Mighty I”, que saldrá a la venta como tal el 23 de febrero. Además cuenta con la colaboración de Johnny Marr, guitarrista de The Smiths. Al parecer ya hubo un intentó para que Marr tocase en su anterior álbum, pero aquella colaboración no fue posible. Cuando Noel escribió este tema, inmediatamente supo que era perfecta para él y le sugirió mandarle un primer boceto, sin embargo Marr no quiso oírla y propuso ir directamente y grabar según su propia reacción, intuitivamente. El resultado es extraordinario, tanto que Noel Gallagher ha declarado que Marr es un fuera de serie que se haya en un nivel superior y que ha convertido esta canción en uno de las mejores que él ha escrito en toda su vida.

De todos es bien conocida la antipatía que siente Noel Gallagher por la grabación de videos musicales. Una manía que él mismo declaró públicamente cuando Oasis editó una recopilación de sus clips, afirmando que en todos ellos salía como si fuera de madera. Sabiendo esto, el director John Hardwick, quien ya realizó un gran trabajo con “Seen It All” de Jake Bugg, ha logrado cambiar ese sentimiento negativo del señor Gallagher. Le ha bastado usar algunas viejas reglas de sentido común, actuar sobre la marcha e implicar al artista en todo el proceso. El resultado final es absolutamente brillante, como la canción.
